Annie's phone screamed at us all afternoon, warning of EXTREME TORNADO DANGER in our area. It suggested we SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. It was so annoying we finally had to turn it off. We could hardly hear the approaching locomotives over the squawking.
Here's what a local news article advised: If you are in a vehicle or a mobile home, find substantial shelter or a low spot outside and cover your head with your hands. And scream Armageddon outta here!
One of my favorite ways to slip into a different brain is a glass of wine + 70's music. Perhaps another glass of wine, and more 70's music. Maybe 70 wines and one more music - thanks, I'm good.
Last night, it occurred to me I might not own all the music from the 70's, and you guys could suggest some I really should have.
Any genre is good. Any song, any group. The 70's just didn't make bad music. What should I be hearing?

I'm the rarity of this dynamic duo--Sparky and Eldo, because I LOVE 70's music! I love it all! So glad I'm not the only one out there. Sometimes I feel like I am, especially when going to music events at various campgrounds. They always think people in their sixties and up want to hear 50's and 60's. Not me! can't think of any tunes at the moment, it's all good, as far as I'm concerned!
I never did understand why so many people pooh poohed 70's music. It was lively feeling good stuff with great rythms & beats. It was upbeat feeling good music. Even made non dancers like myself want to get up there on the floor & shake my legs. It was still in a music age where muscians & singers had to be skilled in their craft. The Bee Gees are a good example of that & who can ever forget the sound track from Saturday Night Fever. The 70's were Elton John, Paul McCartney & Wings, The Four Seasons, Donna Summer, Minnie Ripperton, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Three Dog Night, The Carpenters, Glen Campbell, Carole King, John Denver, Rod Stewart, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Nilsson, Roberta Flack, (saw her in concert)Looking Glass, Dawn, Jim Croce, Marvin Gaye, Dianna Ross.....just to mention a few. I remember the 70's music as good times, fun times, & just another great music era back in the days when feeling good music was still alive & well being performed by genuinely talented real live musicians. Just my opinion of course........:))

I Love 70's music. That was "My Year of Bad Judgement" that lasted ten years. It came with the perfect soundtrack.
Anything in the R&B category. Start with Marvin Gaye, especially "I'll Be Doggone" for some toe-tapping happiness, and Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose, "Too Late to Turn Back Now."
I started it with "Wildflower" by Skylark and ended it with "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. And that's all I'll say about that. For now.

It's all good. We listen to the 70's on Sirius Radio when we're on the road. I've never been good about picking out favorites cause it's usually the one I'm listening to.

I find wine has many thearapeutic effects...certainly the most effective tornado supporter that I've seen in a blog post.
Funny story -> we got our first tornado the day we passed into Kansas in the RV. Freaky, eh? Of course the tornado warning listed ~15 different counties and we had NO IDEA if we were near any of them. So, we did like you...got into camp and drank some wine.

People always remember the good stuff from past years but the 70's had some real bad stuff too - i.e. Disco Duck (although you guys might like that one), You Light Up My Life by Debbie Boone (ugh!) and Muskrat Love by Captain and Tenille ( double ugh! No, make that triple ugh!).

Well, Rick, you did manage to scrape the 70's barrel with Disco Duck and Debbie Boone. DD was just silly, but Debbie was as saccharine as the Tab I was drinking while listening to the radio. I like to think of those as exceptions to the 70s. Muskrat Love, on the other hand, is a classic! C & T or America - doesn't matter.

Oh, the 70's!!! Our kind of music, and THE BEST music! All of the above and Kansas, Boston, Styx, ELO, and the Allman Brothers just to name a few more. It all brings back good memories.

OMG 70's music? Sly and the Family Stone -Thank you falettin me be mice elf again-or something like that! I loved it, still do in a certain kind of way. Not a big oldies fan, though.
